My husband and I are seperated and will probably divorce.
We live in California and have been married 12 years.
I work for a school district and will receive a pension when I retire.
My husband has a 401K.
How will my pension be valued when it comes to dividing up our
property.
It has no fixed value, but I will receive a percentage of my final
year salary, the
percentage depending on when I retire.
Thanks

Sorry, but no one here can give you a valid answer to what
is a forensic accounting question. You need to consult a
California attorney who specializes in family law. There are
many who offer low or no-fee initial consults.

A retirement plan is the biggest financial asset they hold. And a Qualified Domestic Relations Order (QDRO) is used to help divide these assets. For example, it would allow a 401(k) plan administrator to make payments to the former spouse of an employee.
